March 29: The survivor left home to visit a friend. She later encountered a man named Raj Vishwakarma, who allegedly took her to his cafe in Lanka and, along with an associate, assaulted her.
March 30: She met another individual, Sameer, who, along with his friends, allegedly assaulted her on a highway and abandoned her in Nadesar.
March 31: A group led by Ayush, including Sohail, Danish, Anmol, Sajid, and Zahir, reportedly took her to Sigra’s Continental Cafe, where she was given intoxicating drinks and gang-raped.
April 1: Sajid and his friend allegedly took her to a hotel, where she was assaulted by multiple individuals before being thrown out.
Subsequent Days: The survivor encountered others, including Imran, who allegedly continued the cycle of abuse.
Investigation and Arrests
The survivor’s family filed a missing person report on April 4. She was located shortly thereafter, and on April 6, her family lodged a formal complaint detailing the alleged assaults. Authorities have arrested 12 of the 23 accused individuals, including Raj Vishwakarma, Sameer, Ayush, Sohail, Danish, Anmol, Sajid, Zahir, Imran, Jaib, Aman, and Raj Khan.
The case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including those pertaining to gang rape, assault, wrongful confinement, and criminal intimidation.
Public and Government Response
The incident has sparked nationwide outrage. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed officials to take the “strictest action” against the accused. Women’s rights organizations and civil society groups have called for swift justice and systemic reforms to prevent such heinous crimes.
